I received a package in the mail today that has gotten me pretty excited. You see, I’ve been hearing a lot of great things about Dizzy Pig
seasoning and spices for meat and vegetables for some time now. I’ve finally decided to put the hype to the test and ordered the Dizzy Pig Complete Sampler pack of spices and rubs.
Did I mention that I was excited? Yeah, I am a little bit of a BBQ nerd, to say the least, but I am always on the lookout for ways to up my BBQ game. My wife calls me “The Spice Hunter” because I am always on the search for a new spice or rub to try. Hardly a month goes by that I don’t pick up at least one new meat rub, hoping I have struck the flavor mother-lode. My cupboard is full of them.
Now most don’t cut the dry mustard (bad spice joke) and end up buried somewhere in the back corner of the shelf. A few have been added to my list of “Go To” staples for my grilling rotation.
Dizzy Pig Seasoning Complete Sampler Pack
Back to the Dizzy Pig Spices and my quest for the ultimate meat rub. Like I mention earlier, I ordered the complete sampler. The sampler includes 13
sample bags of their Original Blend flavors. In the next several months I will be trying out all 13 blends, each on their recommended meats or veggies. I will then be providing an honest review on how well they stood up to the challenge.
Here is a quick rundown of each seasoning included in the sampler pack, the description on the package and their suggested uses.
Raising the Steaks – Canadian Style BBQ Rub
“A sugar-Free, coarse ground Canadian-style steak rub. Simplicity in its purest form, this blend lets the flavor of the steak shine through and
complements many foods without overwhelming. Also, awesome mixed with homemade burgers, meatloaf or roasts.”
Jamaican Firewalk – Fiery Hot Island Rub
“This rub, with a huge peppery punch, is based loosely on the island tradition of “jerk.” Jamaican Firewalk touts a good dose of ginger,
habanero chilies and Jamaican allspice berries. Best on chicken, pork and grilled shrimp.”
Shakin’ the Tree – Lemon Pepper Rub with a Twist
“Shakin’ the Tree is a citrusy fresh rub with a taste reminiscent of freshly fallen lemons and spices. Whether on chicken, seafood, beef, pork
or veggies, the tangy flavor will have you licking your plate.”
Cow Lick Steak Rub – Spicy Beef Seasoning
“This sugar-free beef rub is bold in taste and aroma, but never overpowering. Cow Lick is a peppery rub that is perfect on a thick grilled steak
or low and slow brisket. Spruce up your burgers or sprinkle on eggs or fresh tomato slices!”
Swamp Venom – Hot Deep South BBQ Seasoning
“For those who enjoy Cajun and southwestern flavors and plenty of heat, there’s Swamp Venom. With influences from Louisiana to Arizona,
this seasoning provides a pleasant and tasty punch in the mouth. Best on pork, chicken, beef, catfish and grilled shrimp.”

“Celebrating the American barbecue tradition. For the perfect, authentic Southern BBQ flavor, go down to the crossroads. Best on chicken,
pork ribs and pork shoulder.”
Dizzy Dust – All Purpose Barbecue Seasoning
“This all-purpose rub is blended to bring out the best in whatever graces your smoker or grill. Balance is the key to this versatile rub. The
perfect mix of saltiness, sweetness, spiciness, peppery and herbal tones. Best on pork ribs, pork shoulder, and chicken.”

“An exciting blend of both common and exotic Asian ingredients. Tsunami Spin gives meals a special zing and nicely complements the subtle
flavor of poultry, seafood and vegetables.”

“It takes a bold and balanced seasoning to stand up to the robust flavor of wild game and red meat. No need for long marinades – all the
flavor you need is in Game On! Best on venison, duck, elk, squirrel, beef brisket, beef steaks and burgers and sausages.”
Raging River Rub – Poultry/Pork/Salmon Rub
“Raging River is an awesome blend of citrus, maple sugar, fresh pepper and am an array of herbs and spices. Designed to work wonders on
Salmon, but great on all seafood, pork, poultry, and veggies.”
Pineapple Head – Sweet Tropical Rub
“Sweet with a little heat in the back, Pineapple Head is the perfect choice for seasoning fruit for grilling, broiling or baking. It is most tasty on
fresh pineapple slices grilled to caramelized perfection. Good for all fruit and also for bacon and ham.”
Red Eye Express – Coffee-Infused BBQ Rub
“While this rub has quite a bit of pepper, coffee is the theme. Aromatic spices, herbs and a variety chilies round out the final result….a rich
rub that works with beef, lamb, poultry and pork.”
Happy Nancy – Bright, snappy, clean flavors for all taste buds
“Our friend Nancy found out she was sensitive to chilies and black pepper. To her, it was a problem, to us, a challenge! We built a blend with
0% chilies and pepper, yet packed with 100% flavor! Mild doesn’t have to be bland. The result: happy kids, happy families, and Happy Nancy! Best on poultry, seafood, lean pork, teriyaki or Japanese dishes, breads and vegetables.”
So there you have it. 13 new seasonings and rubs to try. I definitely have my work cut out for me. Didn’t I mention I was excited? J
