Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 Review and Rating

The Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 is a budget-friendly LP gas grill perfect for family get together’s.

With heavy-duty steel construction surrounding 630sq inches of total cooking area, three stainless steel burners, and over 40,000 BTUs, the Grillin’ Pro packs a lot of power for a low-cost gas grill.

Duel smoke stacks help create even heating across the cooking surface. This ensures that while grilling different foods simultaneously, they will cook at the same rate no matter where they are on the grill.

If you need a little more cooking space for something extra, the easily convertible side burner can go from extra prepping space to extra cooking space in seconds. When the party’s over, the Grillin’ Pro’s porcelain-coated cast iron cooking grates are a cinch to clean.

By the end of this review, you’ll be armed with the pros, the cons, and the facts about the Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 gas grill to help in your decision-making.

The Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 Overview

The Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 40,800-BTU 3 Burner Gas Grill is one of the top-rated and top-selling low-cost liquid propane gas grills on the market today. Char Griller has been making low-cost charcoal grills and smokers for quite some time before they ventured into the gas grill business.

The Grillin’ Pro 3001 gas grill design was adapted from their charcoal grill, which explains its unusual look and shape. They basically just removed the coal grate from their charcoal unit and added three burners to it. They have also added a 12,000 BTU side burner for cooking side dishes or heating sauces that is powerful enough to do some pretty heavy cooking on.

Because Char-Griller adopted the same design as their charcoal grills, this means porcelain-coated cast iron cooking grates and a relatively heavy-duty steel body. Unlike many of the low-cost gas grills on the market that are made with thin, sheet metal bodies, the thickness of this grill helps to produce and hold in heat, sear steaks nicely and cook at higher temperatures better than most.

The Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 Design & Features

It also includes a stainless steel hood thermometer to monitor the heat inside your grill. Regardless of the price range, you fall under, the internal temperature gauge thermometers built into the hoods are mostly low quality and inaccurate. They are routinely off by as much as  50°F. That is why I always recommend a good digital meat thermometer that includes a probe that can be placed on the cooking surface for accurate temperature readings.

The Char Griller Grillin’ Pro 3001 is a portable and convenient grill weighing in at only 88 pounds. However, don’t let its light weight fool you. The sturdy construction allows you to move it just about anywhere should you have the need, and it still kicks out a fair amount of power despite its smaller size. If you are planning a cookout for a modest-sized family get-together, and want something portable and easy to move around, this grill is for you.

The overall construction and height of the Char-Griller Grillin Pro 3001 are major selling points. It stands a convenient 50 inches tall with the lid open, being the ideal height for most grillers.

Attached to the hood is a strong, stay-cool handle for safe lifting, and the sturdy plastic wheels come in handy when you want to maneuver the grill. There are also a few utensil hooks for hanging cooking utensils and tools.
