In this Inferno Heat Resistant Barbecue Gloves Review, I’m going to be giving you the pros, the cons, and the facts about their performance.
In my hunt for the best heat-resistant barbecue gloves, I came across the Inferno brand barbecue gloves. I have been using them exclusively for the last two months. I’ll give you my honest opinion in the review below.
I’ve been asked many times over the years if could I recommend the best heat resistant barbecue gloves, or what are the best grilling gloves.
Until recently, my answer has always been, “I’m sorry, I can’t help you with that one.”
I feel like I have to come clean on this topic. As much money as I have spent on grills, smokers, bbq gadgets, and supplies over the years, I never got around to investing in a quality pair of heat-resistant barbecue gloves.
In fact, (and I’m embarrassed to admit this,) when I did take the time to use gloves, I would usually just pick up a pair of cheap rubber-fingered gardening gloves from my local hardware store.
These types of gloves are not made to be heat resistant. And I have years worth of little cuts and burns on my hands and wrists to show for it.
I would wear out these cheap gloves in a matter of months, inevitably burn myself several times and end up back at the hardware store ready to repeat the whole process over again. I’ve never claimed to be smart, just a good griller.
Well, I finally got burned one too many times while trying to move my still-hot Grillgrates brand grill grate enhancer from my Big Green Egg to one of my Traeger Pellet Smokers. Don’t ask, but needless to say, I was trying to get a little too fancy while cooking multiple foods on both grills at the same time.
After doing a little research I put the Inferno-IBG-L Grill Gloves on my Christmas wish list and hoped Santa thought I was a good boy this year. He must have taken pity on me because sure enough, on Christmas morning I was sporting a new pair of heat-resistant grilling gloves.
By the end of this review, you’ll be armed with everything you need to know about the Inferno Heat Resistant Barbecue Gloves to help in your decision-making.

My Thoughts on the Inferno-IBG-L Heat Resistant Barbecue Gloves
As much grilling as I do, I needed to make this type of investment if I wanted to remain burn free. At the same time, I didn’t want to just end up with a fancier but still ineffective version of the aforementioned gardening gloves.
In my mind, the four “Must Have” qualities I wanted in grilling gloves included:
- Heat resistant up to 700 + degrees.
- Provide wrist and lower arm protection.
- Comfortable to wear.
- Allow me to grip and handle objects with ease.
My “Would Be Nice To Have’s” included:
- Breathable liner to prevent my hands from overheating and sweating
- Stain-resistant and easy cleaning
- Durable
Like I said earlier, up until recently while using cheap gardening gloves, I basically had almost no protection whatsoever. Seriously, my old option pretty much only helped keep my hands clean. Not really a solution right?
Let’s See if the Inferno Heat Resistant Gloves Lived up to My Expectations
Heat Resistant Up To 700 + Degrees | Provide Wrist & Lower Arm Protection | Comfortable to Wear | Allow Me To Grip & Handle Objects With Ease | Breathable Liner To Prevent My Hands From Overheating & Sweating | Stain Resistant & Easy Cleaning | Durable
Let’s see how the Inferno gloves stacked up starting with my Must Haves:
Heat Resistant Up To 700 + Degrees
The very first time I used these gloves, I foolishly picked up a single ashed-over briquette that remained stuck in my charcoal chimney starter and placed it into the grill. Now I don’t recommend this at home, (as I said, it was a foolish knee-jerk reaction,) but I can honestly tell you that I never felt the heat. Granted I only held it for 3 seconds or less, but still, I was impressed. And the gloves were no worse for wear.
I was able to pick up and remove a hot grill grate and I could confidently use short-handled tongs to manipulate food on the grill without worry.
I will count this one as a Yes!
Provide Wrist & Lower Arm Protection
After trying them on, they definitely extend a lot further down the wrist and lower arm than my other gloves, allowing me to reach into the grill with more confidence. Mixing hot coals and moving hot grill grates was accomplished without fear of bumping into the hot parts of the grill. I had no fear of a flare-up while grilling hot and fast.
Another Yes on the wrist and arm protection!
Comfortable To Wear
Although slightly bulky, they fit well and did not feel like a hindrance whatsoever. The inside layer is bamboo viscose fiber that felt like soft, thick winter socks. They also kept my hands warm during the winter evenings.
A Yes vote again!
Allow Me To Grip & Handle Objects With Ease
I found that the textured silicone grips helped keep a tight hold on anything slick or heavy. The same went for smaller and more delicate objects like small sauce basters, meat thermometers, paper plates, and napkins.
I did not have any problems manipulating tongs, or picking up plates and utensils and was even able to insert my meat temperature probes with ease. Using a long-handled electric lighter did present a slight challenge as it was a tight fit trying to get my finger into the trigger guard, but it did work.
I am going to give a Yes to both!
Now let’s see how my “Would Be Nice To Have’s” wish list fared!
Breathable Liner To Prevent My Hands From Overheating & Sweating
Ok, so this one is still up in the air as I have only used these gloves during the winter so far. My hands have stayed warm from the outside cold without getting uncomfortable, and they never got hot enough to sweat. I will have to revisit this one.
I will give this one an Undecided!
Stain Resistant & Easy Cleaning
I have gotten BBQ sauce, meat juice, charcoal ash, and grease on these gloves already and I can’t see any visible stains. The black color may be helping to disguise them, but I have been able to wipe everything off pretty easily with a paper towel. Washing them was simple too and they didn’t fade or discolor.
Chalk up another Yes vote!
Durable
I know what you’re thinking, how can I grade the durability of these gloves if I have only had them for a little over 2 months? Well, I can tell you that I have used them over 45 times so far, and I have not been delicate with them at all.
I use them to remove charcoal ash and to fill my Big Green Egg grill with lump charcoal. I’ve used them to remove hot grill grates. I have spilled sauce on them more than once and even used them in the rain. (I do not recommend using them as a heat protector if they get wet as they won’t prevent burns while damp.)
Compared to the cheap gardening gloves I was using that would already have been noticeably worn and dirty, this is a big upgrade. They still look and feel great with no noticeable wear.
I will give this one another YES as I put them through the wringer.
Final Thoughts on Our Inferno Heat Resistant Barbecue Gloves Review
The final tally on my must have a nice to have heat resistant BBQ gloves list:
Yes’s – 7
No’s – 0
Undecided pending further review – 1
So there you have it. By my count that is seven for the yes side and zero for the no side. While I do have 1 undecided pending further review, I have high hopes, and all my “Must Haves” came through with a resounding yes!
The only gripe I have with these gloves is that because they have two layers, you need to be careful taking them off. Unless you get a grip on the glove’s fingers as you’re pulling them off, the liner can come out of the fingers of the glove.
That happened to me one time, although it was pretty easy to put the liner back in place. It was a slight annoyance but after removing them several times, it has become second nature to make sure I’m taking them off the correct way.
Bottom line, yes, they were a little more money than my cheap gardening glove alternative, but the extra cost is more than made up for by the safety, comfort, and added durability.
I’m kicking myself for not making the switch sooner.
Would I recommend Inferno Barbecue Gloves? That would be a Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, Yes, and Yes!

I don’t usually use gloves for the BBQ but use very long utensils! I do get burned though. These gloves look great to avoid the burns. Are these machine washable?
I often get small burns even with longer utensils. I’m somewhat of a klutz, though. The Inferno grill gloves have really made a difference for me at least. And yes, they are machine washable. I have washed mine twice already with no visible wear or fading.
Hi Patrick, this is awesome, I am really looking forward to the summer coming back here in the UK so I can get the grill out, I love it…
Best wishes
Neil
Glad you liked it Neil. They will definitely come in handy for you during the coming BBQ season. But did you know they work great in the kitchen too? I replaced my old oven mitt with a pair of these and I have never been happier. So you see, they are good for all seasons.
I have to laugh at your prior use of garden gloves… I should have thought of those even over my nice kitchen oven mitts! Oven mitts work for heat but they aren’t nearly as practical as gloves, which beat mitts for usefulness any day.
Where do you store your barbecue gloves? I’m wondering if I could tuck them inside our grill beside our propane tank. I like the idea of having them close by the grill, as there always seems to be a ton of stuff to carry in and out of the house already, but leaving them inside the barbecue may attract mice or other rodents with good noses that smell bbq sauce or meat remnants. What do you think?
This particular set is a great price for a birthday gift from my little kids – I may pass on the suggestion!
I have to agree. I often fumble around with those uncomfortable oven mitts as they just don’t do as a good a job of holding and gripping as gloves do. I have a BBQ Shed in my patio that I keep all my grilling accessories. It keeps them out of the elements and dry. It also keeps the critters out. I am positive they would make a great gift too. I know I was pretty excited when I received my pair.
Hey Patrick!
Good review – I’m totally in the same boat as you. I’ll spend a ton of money on all the fancy stuff and then forget something as basic as hand protection! I liked all the different areas you touched on when doing the review. It was very thorough. I’ve just been using the ol “Ove-Glove” up until now, but these look even better!
Funny how that works. The more shiny and expensive, the better right? Wel not in this case. These gloves are definitely cost effective and worth every penny I spent so far. The Ove-Glove is also a good option. I had a pair for years. I do like my Inferno gloves a little better so far, but still need to see how they last.
I’ll be purchasing the Inferno! My husband does the grilling and he’s always burning himself. The gloves we use do not sufficiently go up the arm enough. These gloves are also a safety must have, especially if your gas grill no longer works using the dials and your husband insists on using the match to light it with! Thanks for a great review.
Great Linda. Glad you found this helpful. Your husband and I sound similar. I am a bit of a klutz and probably burn myself more than the average person. The Inferno grill gloves have really made a difference so far. At least for me. Sounds like your husband needs an upgrade on his grill. I know because I was in a similar spot as him. It’s hard to give up an old trusted friend, but it will be well worth it in the long run. Let me know if you need any advice when picking one out. I am always happy to lend a hand.
Hi Patrick, great article. As a regular visitor to your site it was nice to see some heat resistant gloves getting a good review. I’ve been wondering about these for some time but I’ve been reluctant to buy them until now. I live in a very hot climate in S.E. Asia and I wondered how sweaty my hands would get with gloves on. I suppose it’s kind of “suck it and see” but I’d be interested to hear how they fare when you wear them in Summer. I like how they extend up to protect your lower arms. These would make grilling so much easier and with a lifetime guarantee there’s not much to lose. Do you know what the guarantee actually covers? I mean, surely it won’t cover things like stains or burn marks, etc?
Hi and thanks for your support Craig. I am interested to see how they fair in the hotter months as well. I have a hard time seeing how any of these types of heat resistant lined gloves could prevent sweating and doubt any of them do. They do say that the liner helps to draw the moisture (sweat) away from the hands though so we will see. As long as they stay comfortable and keep me from burning myself, I will be happy. Anything else is a bonus. I have ben having a hard time actually finding the details of the warranty except to see that the manufacturer says “No Frills Lifetime Replacement Guarantee”. I will have to reach out to them to get the exact details. I will update you once I get a reply.
These look like the perfect gloves for handling anything hot! I have been looking for long time some quality heat resistant gloves without success for my clay oven and a friend of mine told me to take a look at barbecue gloves.
When I burn my clay produce in the even, the temperatures reach 1,800 F to 2,400 F. It takes really long time for the products to cool down enough for me to handle them and although I initially take them out with thongs, those are really not delicate enough for further actions.
I can’t say that I have ever worked with heat that high but during the removal process while holding your tongs, I think a pair of these would come in handy. I use mine while grilling, removing hot food from the oven and changing hot light bulbs as a few examples. The ability to hold and grip objects without the fear of dropping them is a plus. It was money well spent.
These seem like the way to go if you don’t want to singe off your arm hair while you are handling the hot stuff.
Sometimes I think that’s half the fun. I can go in and show my wife the new battle scar I get when I bring in the freshly cooked ribs.
As other’s have mentioned in the comments here, I tend to grab the extra long utensils for dealing with the BBQ. These seem like really nice gloves, though. I just may have to give them a whirl. I will be pinning this one for sure so I can find it later.
Thanks for the share,
Cheers
Unfortunately, my girlfriend stopped being impressed years ago with my battle scars and that is one of the main reasons why she bought me these gloves. She was tired of hearing me complain about my latest arm hair mishap. Even with extra long tongs, there are plenty of times these gloves come in handy, especially if you need to reach down into the grill or move a still hot grate. Sometimes while searing, the temp can get pretty intense while trying to flip the meat.
I appreciate, cause I found just what I was looking for. You’ve ended my four day long hunt! God Bless you man. Have a nice day. Bye
Really enjoyed this article post. Thanks Again. Fantastic.
